Hi, Rusty!
Oh, just changing aeroplanes?
I had thought they might be staying there for a few days, as part of their holiday.
Could they not fly directly from Edinburgh to Orlando then?
(I don't know about these things!)
I have finished my crossword puzzle, apart from 15a, which I couldn't do...and 6d, which I couldn't fully parse.
I especially liked 11a; 13a; and 8d.
I thought it a nice one today?
I must have been on the right wavelength......

Hello, Elle!
Yes, they will be in Orlando tonight.
Possibly the Newark stop is cheaper than flying direct?
I do not know if Edinburgh flies to Orlando, but I know Glasgow does.
A hint for 15, you need the name of a city in South America.
I am not sure of 6, too.
I have the party, but the second bit I am hesitant about.
I looked it up in Collins but am no wiser!
I am sure the setter is on the ball, though!
I am wrong about this being a rest day in Le Tour,...that's tomorrow!
Good luck with your extraction!

Good afternoon, Rusty!
I am home again now.......minus a wisdom tooth!
I am fine, thank you, although I am told I mustn't do anything strenuous for twenty four hours, lest the tooth socket should bleed!
And that it will hurt, once the local anaesthetic wears off!
But the actual extraction went fine.......and the tooth came out fairly quickly..... and all in one piece.
My dentist was great!
Now ...the crossword..... I cannot think of the South American city in 15a?
I have V?L?A?A?S?
I am thinking "valise" for "case"..... but cannot see the rest?
Re 6d: I have "Libyan" = "African" (def)
Lib - old party
But "yan" ?
If it's "upstanding", does that mean "nay"?
But I still don't get it?

Hello, Elle!
I am pleased your extraction went according to plan!
Paracetamol may help if it is painful?
15, Your soldier is a "Para", that should help you on your way!
Sorry, Elle, I am baffled by "nay", too.
I have looked up dictionaries but I don't understand what they are saying.
And I don't see the need for "old" in the clue?
Lovely afternoon here!

Rusty, I think the 'old' is because we no longer have a Liberal party. The Nay = rather, as in 'yet more' and 'in point of fact' (Chambers). I suppose it could be when someone is agreeing with something you've said.

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, the dentist thought as you do, and recommends I take two paracetamol at 5pm ., when the anaesthetic will be wearing off!
I shall see......
As you know, I hate taking medication!
I shall be fine!
I have the African country: Valparaiso!
Thank you!
Now "nay"..... like you , I had looked that up in Chambers...
To me "nay" means "no"..... and I still cannot understand the apparent other meanings?
Nor see a relevance to the answer?
But the use of "old" simply refers to the Liberal party belonging to the past and being no longer in existence.
Yes, a glorious afternoon here, too! Now warm and sunny!
How are you doing with tracking the girls' flight?

Hello, Elle!
What on Earth did the dentist inject you with?
African country?
It is a South American city!
I have put "nay" behind me, Elle.
I could not understand it, too.
We'll try again tomorrow!
I thought there was still a Liberal party. No?
The aeroplane is on descent to Newark.
It will land shortly!

Rusty, the Liberal party became the Liberal Democrats in 1988 - so I suppose 'old' party is technically accurate?
