Hello, Elle!
It may turn out to be a good read, but with Michener, he took you back millions of years, to the dinosaurs, and then worked forward.
This lad goes back a couple of hundred years, just!
And there seems to be far too much dialogue in his book.
No, it would be impossible to forget Michener's fine work while reading New York.

Hi, Rusty!
Okay, perhaps a foolish suggestion on my part......
Consider it unsaid!
We are meeting up with daughter and family tomorrow - maybe just for a walk......possibly for a picnic if the weather is decent.
I don't think there will be many more "picnic" days ahead as Winter draws near, so hopefully we can make the most of tomorrow.
The final decision is to be made by phone in the morning!
We shall not meet before noon anyway, as BB has his tennis lesson in the morning.
What about you?
Any plans to meet up with the girls to go to the Pine Cone tomorrow?

Good morning, Elle!
Looks fine outside!
Enjoy your picnic!
One or two folk were telling me yesterday of scraping frosty windscreens yesterday morning.
So, Winter may be drawing near!
Though my windscreen was frost-free.
No Pine Cone until next week, I think.
I shall be watching the Ryder Cup.
Should be great entertainment, I think!
Fingers crossed for Europe, and good luck to the USA!
May the best team win!!

Good morning, Rusty!
Yes, a beautiful day here, too!
I have not yet been beyond the garden, as there is to be no early morning walk today!
Instead, we are going out at 11.30 to meet daughter and family at the park.
It's none too warm, but we are taking food and drink with us, so - if too cold to sit - the troops can be sustained whilst on the march!
I have already done the Everyman puzzle, as I was up at the crack of dawn!
Nearly finished the ST cryptic, too!
( I'm full of energy this morning! )
I hope the golf goes well!
Did you know there is also the Great Scottish Run this morning?

Hello, Elle!
That's a novel idea... a "walking picnic"!
I have the men's World Championship Road Race to keep an eye on, too.
I think Peter Sagan will be saying goodbye to his title as reigning champ.
Course is too mountainous for him.
Anna van der Breggen won the women's race yesterday.
(I was pretty sure a Dutch girl would win, but which one?)
The golf will be exciting, though!
Well done on your puzzles!
My day off my puzzle!

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, but only 'walking and eating', if too cold to sit!
I'm just "prepared for any eventuality"..... as I think George Harrison said in the Beatles film "It's a Hard Day's Night"!
You do have a busy day of sport ahead of you!
I've set the recorder for the Glasgow half-marathon, so I can watch it later, when I get home.
Now, I know it's not your day for puzzles...but I think you'll like this clue in the ST.....
5d: Irish club needs decoy - what about convict? (10)
I liked it , it parses beautifully too!

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, I expected that you would get "shillelagh"!
It was a good clue, wasn't it?
I am glad that you have good coverage of the golf......
I still keep getting emails from EuroSports Player trying to "entice" me back!
The carrot they are dangling is not cheap enough!
Right... I am away out now... daughter has texted and brought forward the meeting time!
Catch you later......

Good evening, Rusty!
Home again!
We have had a lovely afternoon with our daughter and family.
It was even warm enough to sit and enjoy our picnic!
We played football....BB is very keen as he goes to football club at school!
He has been teaching us all to do a 'back- heel kick'... and ...wait for this..... the others were all told "No, no ...you're not doing it right... Watch Grandma......she is the only one who can do it properly"......
Now, how about that?
What an accolade?!
( Shall I give up my day job...? )
How has your day been?
