Lacrosse ? You were lucky if ypu were only hit with a ball. A girl at my school had her nose broken - by the stick.

Quite so, Mags....lacrosse (at school) was a VERY dangerous game! We wore NO protective clothing (apart from the ubiquitous n.b.k's) for that game , either Jazzy, and the sticks were wielded high in the air, not kept near the ground as in hockey!
Many a time a girl would get wacked on the head when someone was 'tackling'!

What the rules of hickey, doglet? It sounds a bit like hockey, but more violent!

I played hockey once only. The pitches were too hard for rugby practice, so the coach thought it would help to keep us fit to have a game of hockey. Lunatic idea! Give 20 odd (and I mean odd) 18 year old rugby players sticks to hit each other with.........................

Hickey sounds like hockey played under the influence of alcohol.
Might have made it less painful though.

Hi Dogleg I also went to a convent school and the nuns would not allow us to wear patent leather shoes because the boys could see our underwear in them (nbk's compulsory)
