Well, Susan, may I say that I don't have to be privy to the knickers situation!
Though I think I remember them, too.
I just hope to goodness, my granddaughters don't come across this thread!
I may get disowned!

Hi, Rusty, I don't think your granddaughters will be buying you any more bacon rolls if you don't hush up about the navy knickers situation! You seem to know far too much!
I wondered whether you would watch BGT or save it till tomorrow - I see it's the latter! I've two episodes to watch already lined up - this afternoon's repeat and tonight's semi -final.

Hi, Susan! we wore' eurythmic slip' for gyms - ever heard of them? I assure you , you don't want to! We had to move about trying to look like a tree!

Hi Elle, no, I've never heard of eurythmic slips. I googled it and could only find Annie Lennox-related stuff! I wonder if she wore them. Sounds like a rather odd lesson, being expected to try to look like a tree. About as pointless as cross-country running in n... b... k.......!

I think those navy knickers were more or less universal at one time. We had very expensive pleated navy shorts (mid thigh length) for "games" which I loathed whatever kind it was. Lacrosse most of all. I was in goal for that, a more dangerous position can hardly be imagined. Behind one of the goals was a home for men from both World wars in wheelchairs (mostly minus legs and some had lost an arm as well). With hindsight watching us girls play lacrosse was probably one of the few pleasures they had left. I hope no-one finds that offensive.
I also had to wear a panama hat in summer. I enjoyed chucking it in the River Mersey on my last day.

Hello, Albie!
I think it was Jazzgirl who knew you in Japan.
I just thought I would say "hello" and change the subject from navy blue knickers.
It will be "Tales from Behind the Bike Sheds" next!

Thank you rusty for the deviation of n.b.k. :)
I have no idea who Albie is and certainly did not meet anyone in Japan. I was with a group and we were escorted everywhere

Ah!
I knew you mentioned Japan, Jazzgirl.
Strange how I get muddled at times!
Almost the weekend; hope it is nice weather.

Only meant it was dangerous because of the speed of the very hard rubber ball, thrown directly at you from a net on a stick. As far as I can remember the person aiming could be as close as three feet. Sorry, boring.
