ELLE, CONGRATULATIONS AND ALL THE VERY BEST ON YOUR
45TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

Sorry, I am a bit late - Moving is very slow this morning -
Hard to get out of the warmth of my bed!
I had set one heater to switch itself on automatically at a certain
time, so the house was not cold when I got up. Electronic can be
brilliant (so long as there is no power cut!)

We are due to have minus 3C towards the evening/early night!
What are your minimum temps?

My friends from Luxembourg are here and I am going to see
them later - they have had a lot of snow!

Hudl for dummies might be a good idea, if it is really explained
clearly! (and not using too much computer jargon)

I hope you have a grand day with your husband and your daughter

Hello, Elle!
Ah now, you are away ahead of me with "laissez-faire"!
A new phrase to me!
But, yes, you have confidence in your daughter and rightly so.
Best seek her advice, I think, regarding the Hudl.
I did not know Emerald was 55th?
I know 80th is oak, and 90th is granite, so you have those to look forward to, too.
No rush, though.
Well, I have the puzzle solved and parsed.
18a, and 23a, are new words to me.
And 13a, I'd vaguely heard of, but had no idea what it was.

I have found all the "for Dummies" books to be excellent. PowerPoint 2013 and Word 2013 are always at hand. The explanations are clear and the books well indexed.

Hi, Rusty!
What a nice day this is turning out to be!
Our son and younger daughter both rang to wish us a Happy Anniversary - and we have even had cards come by post from family and friends.
And we received our first Christmas card today!
(I haven't even written mine yet....)
Now I have every confidence in your instructions re the Hudl, Rusty......you have always given me very good and helpful advice......
It is my efforts to follow them that might cause a problem...hence my waiting till my daughter is here to supervise me whilst I do it, just in case I need "rescuing"!
I know my technical limitations!
I haven't completed the puzzle yet............. too many phone calls !
I do not like 13a - it is too sweet for my taste.
I'm not a fan of desserts.
I like 1d; 29a and 6d so far.
I even approve of the homophone in 29a!
Elder daughter should be arriving soon!

Hello, Pigale,
Thank you!
Our maximum temperature is to be 5C, I think - although it was only 2C when we went out earlier.
I hope you have a good time with your friends!

Hello, Elle!
Hope you are having a nice time with your family!
Just forget your puzzle and enjoy your special day is what I think you should do!
Willie Mullins sent a horse over to Newbury today and he has won.
So that is pleasing and I had an interest in it.
Still a fine day here!

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, we are all having a great time, catching up in person with all the news!
We haven't stopped talking since our daughter arrived mid- afternoon!
We have decided that it is too cold to go out to a restaurant tonight, so are ordering in a Chinese meal - - the restaurant will deliver it to our door.
Probably we shall go out for lunch tomorrow.......
That is good about Willie's horse....perhaps you can spend some of your winnings on buying Jo's book?
I am thinking I shall get it anyway...even though it is a bit pricy?
I can treat myself, can I not?!
Right, I had best go find the Chinese menu......

Hello, Elle!
You are having a memorable day!
Quite right, too.
That is kind of the restaurant to deliver your tea.
My book list is growing!
Thinking of one about the Navajo Code Talkers of World War 2, too.
James Michener was involved in their recruitment.
Problem is, there are many books about them!
Willie's horse did very well.
Everyone involved was very pleased.
Hope you all enjoy your Chinese tea!

Hi, Rusty!
Goodness, I don't think any of us will need to eat again for another week!
That was a delicious meal!
Yes, we are indeed having a lovely day.
We have just been talking to our grandsons and their dad, on what my daughter tells me is 'Face time', on her phone.
I think it is like 'Skype"?
I learnt a new word today in the Jumbo GK......."melisma", meaning " a group of notes sung to one syllable of text."
Do you know it?
After- dinner- coffee is being mentioned......I shall away and make it!

Hello, Elle!
I have heard of Facetime and Skype, but have not dabbled in them.
I do not know your word.
I am watching the golf.
Glad you all enjoyed your tea!

Hey, Rusty!
We are planning on a lazy morning tomorrow, and then all going out for a midday walk!
Sounds good to me!
Do you have plans for the Pine Cone with your granddaughters?
How is the golf going?
