Hi, Rusty!
Yes, I have been speaking to my cousin.
Apart from the ongoing problem with her hand, all is well with the family up there.
Her grandchildren - cousins of a similar age - have settled in well at their new secondary schools.
Have you heard from Miss Orlando?
Did they have a good and safe flight?
I have been having a lazy evening....I have been reading........
Once I have finished my present book, I shall start my Bill Bryson!
Yes, it is a tad on the cool side here, too.

Hello, Elle!
Yes, Miss O has WhatsApped to me some photos and a text message.
She says it's very hot in California, and not much else!
I'll leave her in peace and get info from her Mum and Dad.
Not sure where in Cal she is but she sent a photo of her and Minnie Mouse!
She was sorry she was not with us at Pine Cone yesterday.
I had told her we had seen several red squirrels on the way there!
I had the heating on for a while earlier!

Good morning, Rusty!
A dullish day so far......not raining though.
A good walk!
Not much planned so far for today.......
I need to go shopping at some point for a birthday present for my "honorary" grandson, but I have until Thursday to get it.
Maybe this afternoon......
We have our c/heating on low...........
How are things your end?

Good morning, Elle!
Lovely morning here!
I am heading out.
One or two tasks to do.
Puzzle complete!

Hi, Rusty!
Drizzling here now.....
How was your morning? Have you completed your tasks?
Well, you were certainly early in completing your crossword!
I had got roughly a third way through my own puzzle, when my husband appeared clutching the car keys!
He had decided to take me shopping!
I jumped at the opportunity!
So we have bought some lovely clothes for the little one - plus a "Grandson's First Birthday" card !
All done and dusted, save wrapping!
Time now for another coffee.........and of course to finish the 15 x 15!

Hello, Elle!
Still a fine day here!
Well done on the shopping!
My tasks are done, and Miss ATW is calling later regarding her heater!
I bought bread and tested my toaster.
Toast has a nice smell to it, don't you think?
It is a long time since I bought bread and did not realise there were so many different ones.
Even "muesli" bread!
Did you manage your puzzle?

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, I was delighted to have such a successful shopping trip.
I am looking forward to their coming to visit on Thursday, after our granddaughter comes out of school!
So how do you like your toaster, then?
I am somewhat surprised, though, that you do not usually eat bread?
I always have a poached egg on toast for breakfast......... but the egg is done in the microwave!
A very successful way of cooking it - if you have never tried it?
I have finished the crossword, but I struggled with parts of it.
I liked "paperchain" and "proverb", and "define"
They just appealed to me!
I was puzzled as to why Odin was referred to as a "superhero" in clue 25d?
He is the Norse god of war, is he not?
But I wouldn't have used such a term as "superhero"?
Am I missing something?

Hello, Elle.
I have not bought bread in years until this day.
But I shall hitherto.
My toaster is fine.
I am not sure what a "poached" egg is!
Now, "Odin"!
My thoughts are the same as yours.
He is/was a Norse god to me.
I wonder is he a cartoon "character" too.
On the same lines as "Leonardo the Turtle"?
I'll have a look on YouTube to see if he gets a mention.

Elle, update!
Odin is a character in Marvel Comics, too.
Apparently Sir Antony Hopkins played him in a film.

Hi, Rusty!
Poor old Odin - it seems a bit of a comedown to be named as a cartoon character in a comic or film!
What a loss of dignity!
I was reading about "cole" on another thread.
I did that Jumbo Cryptic on Saturday, but my thoughts on cabbages and kings - apart from immediately bringing "The Walrus and the Carpenter" to mind - were of the nursery rhyme character "Old King Cole" (and his fiddlers three!)
I never thought of Nat!
Shepherd's Pie for dinner tonight....... with salad and beetroot.
Er......who is "Leonardo the Turtle"?
