Hi, Rusty!
We are just back from the park.
It is a glorious afternoon, and surprisingly warm in the sunshine, after the cold start this morning.
We met up with friends and all sat talking, whilst the dogs "socialised".
Yes, you are right.
The tree in question does shade the ground, and also prevents the rain from watering that patch thoroughly.
But I don't think there is much more we can do?
We have had all the trees cut well back ........and are watering that reseeded and treated patch of grass daily!
That particular tree is rather "special" as we brought it back, as a sapling, from our honeymoon!
I haven't looked at any of today's crosswords!

Hello, Elle!
Why not put some shade-loving plants there?
There are dozens of shade-loving plant videos/guides on YouTube.
Could possibly be that the grass seeds planted are not suitable to shade?
Or, type you, "Shade-loving grass seeds", into YouTube and there are very helpful videos to show how to grow grass in shady areas.
That was an odd kind of honeymoon you were at?
Picking saplings?
I am not sure you have got the hang of honeymoons, at all, Elle!
Miss La Bamba has invited me for a bacon roll tomorrow!
A hectic social life I have!
I am up to date with my puzzles.
At 18d I remembered the old admiral from the Battle of Jutland!
I read about him not so long ago.

Hi, Rusty!
I am told by my keen gardener husband ( I am not so enthusiastic as he! I enjoy the fruits of his labours!) that the grass seed used is "right" for shade!
But I shall look up these videos on Youtube you mentioned, just to make sure he is "doing a proper job"!
Now I think it is most romantic to bring home a young tree as a reminder of our honeymoon........
And just look how big and strong it has grown in the 40 odd years since then!
A sentimental memory indeed!
Jellicoe is the naval admiral!
Now update!
The vet rang with good news about the cat's blood tests.
These latest lot are much better......the outlook is looking good.
Karin doesn't want to see the cat for three months ...when she will do a further set of tests.
But meanwhile - all being well- no more treatment needed for now.
( I shall send in my very hefty Insurance claim!)
That will be nice, going out with Miss L-B tomorrow!

Hello, Elle!
I am sure your husband is correct!
Maybe the earth is not the best, but there are good videos on YouTube.
While you are there, there are book reviews on "A Walk in the Woods" and "In a Sunburned Country" which was "Down Under" to begin with.
Think they are by "Get Bookish", quite easy to find.
They last around 4 minutes each.
It is a young lady doing the reviews.
"A Walk in the Woods review " will find it.
That is very good news about your cat.
Yes, I think it is a good idea about bringing home a tree from honeymoon.
I would never have thought of that!
Not many would.
Miss O is heading for California this night!
I was on YouTube earlier and Novak Djokovic was doing a take-off of Maria Sharipova.
He was hilarious!

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, I think the earth is most probably the problem.. ....we have tried changing the top soil.....plus other hints suggested to us.
I have more success with growing plants in tubs on the patio, than I do any plants in the main garden.
But I see I shall be spending this weekend on Youtube!
Looking up gardening hints.......reading book reviews......and especially trying to find Novak's impersonation of Maria!
I am looking forward to viewing that !
I have heard about his dressing up and doing impersonations!
I am sure I will find him funny!
Is it half term in Scotland then? that Miss Orlando is able to go on holiday?
Half term holiday here is not until the last week in October, but of course your schools began the Autumn term in mid August, a lot earlier than here.
Is she going with her boyfriend?
Will you be tracking the flight? I know you enjoy doing that!

Hello, Elle!
Just go to YouTube and type "Novak Djokovic funny moments".
There are loads of videos.
I have just looked at 3 or 4.
He has great fun with Ana Ivanovic and Maria Sharapova.
Superb take-offs of Nadal and Sharapova.
Novak is hilarious.
I guarantee you will love them!
It is holiday time here so Miss O and her young man are heading off for a week.
No, I won't track the flight.

Hi, Rusty!
I have just been chuckling at some of Novak's impersonations!
He is very good!
And extremely funny!
He has Maria down to a T!
I shall browse at greater length when I have the time!
Youtube could become very addictive!
Where does the expression "down to a T" come from?

Hello, Elle!
He is great doing Maria!
And Nadal!
"T" may be something to do with a T-square, but I am but guessing.
I am a big fan of YouTube.
Very entertaining.

Hey, Rusty!
I have been nearly hysterical, watching Novak!
I have just seen him impersonating Roger Federer, Goran Invanisovic, Andy Roddick and Rafa Nadal.
Apart from being hilariously funny, it is startlingly accurate!
Caricatured yes, but oh so recognisable!
He could almost give up the day job!
Yes, Amira is growing up!
How old would she be in that clip?
(The link worked fine)
If one were just listening, rather than watching, one would expect her to be older than she obviously is, from the maturity of her voice.

Hello, Elle!
Well now you now where to find all the funny tennis videos!
They are very good!
Did you like Novak doing Maria?
I think Maria was a bit miffed, to begin with, anyway!
Amira was 9 years old when she won Holland's Got Talent in 2013.
So she is 13 now.
I would guess she was 12 maybe when she sang with Patrizio.
I have had to learn a new way of doing links on this chromebook!
Think I have it cracked!
Oh, just noticed Amira is an anagram of Maria!
