Hey, Rusty!
Ah, thank you.......so I shall set the recorder for the Tom Petty concert.
I am interested to hear him.
Yes, I know of Starbucks...it is a large American Coffeehouse chain!
My elder daughter likes their coffee - she was first introduced to it when they lived in New York- and frequents Starbucks coffee bars here.
But personally, I do not like Starbucks coffee at all!
I much prefer Costa coffee!
If I am unfortunate enough to have to meet up in Starbucks.......
I choose to drink water!
Right, I must away to watch the finale of "Dr Foster"!

Hello, Elle!
Yes, they are based in Seattle, I've been reading.
I shall ask my young ones about them.
I like plain Nescafe, myself!
So, I doubt if they would cater for me!
When I go to a cafe I drink J2O.
I think you'll like Tom Petty.
I have just downloaded Encyclopedia Britannica website.
It is quite good but a little old fashioned I think.
I was reading about John Chapman,
better known as Johnny Appleseed.
I went on YouTube and there are dozens of cartoons about him!
Not quite what I hoped for!

Hi, Rusty!
My serial "Dr. Foster" has now finished.
That was the last episode.
I do not know if there is intent to produce a further series.........but personally, I think this is a suitable note on which to end it for good.
I enjoyed it...but it has shot its bolt, I think........
I have set the recorder for Tom Petty's concert.
I shall watch it another time.
We have the full set of Children's Britannica on our bookshelves.
Our kids used them a lot as reference..........but the grandchildren will probably simply use the computer to look up information!
It is apt to end the day with talk of Johnny Appleseed, considering that discussion about apples was this morning's early topic!
I have never heard of him before.....?
Are you taking Miss L-B both to and from work tomorrow?

In the book "At the Edge of the Orchard", Johnny Appleseed is not portrayed as a simple hero but rather that he sold young trees of both eaters and those from which "apple jack", a rough spirit could be made. He gave some of this away to get people addicted and then sold them trees or more spirit!

Hello, Elle!
I have not a clue about Dr Foster, I'm afraid.
Yes, watch Tom when you have more time.
I listened to his concert that was held last week.
Well, on the 23rd Sept.
It is on YouTube already, but only audio.
Tom was a member of the supergroup "The Travelling Wilburys", too.
The other members were Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Roy Orbison, and Jeff Lynne.
Already Britannica looks very old fashioned to me.
I found Johnny Appleseed on Britannica.
Granny Smith led me there!
Yes, I collect Miss La Bamba at 8.05, she starts at 8.30.

Hello, Rosalind,
One of my favourite songs is "Apple Jack" by Dolly Parton!

Good morning, Rusty!
Yet another fine day here....chilly though!
I am just grabbing a quick cup of coffee, whilst I write this, before we go to the vets.
The cat has to have a further set of blood tests, to establish his progress.
He seems fine in himself - full of beans - but we need to find out what is happening with his liver.
Fingers crossed it was /is a bacterial hepatitis, and not an auto-immune problem.
Did you deliver Miss L-B safely and on time this morning?
Are you also on "pick up" duty after work?

Good morning, Elle!
It is fine here, too.
A bit chilly, but it is October!
Yes, I dropped the young one off at hospital.
Up to now, I am collecting her when she finishes.
That could change!
Hope the cat gets on fine with the vet.

Hi, Rusty!
We are just home from the vets.
Bloods duly taken and will be sent away to the specialist laboratory.
Some basic tests are done on site, but unfortunately not these, so we shall have to wait for the results.
Hopefully, they will be back by Friday afternoon.
Cat also had another long term antibiotic injection.
He is becoming quite philosophical about all this!
And is now devouring some food!
I think that sounds like a good idea........as does a coffee!
Then maybe the crossword......
Have you already done yours?

Hello, Elle!
So, all appears satisfactory at the vet's.
That is good!
Yes, I have completed my puzzle.
It is a good one.
6d, was my last entry, as I did not know a meaning of part of the clue.
I liked 22a, because it gives the name of one of my friends across the water!
I liked 3d once I got Johnny Cash out of my head!
19a appealed to me, too.
So, I am off for a dander now.
A bit cloudy here, but dry!

Hi, Rusty!
How was your walk?
Where did you venture?
You haven't mentioned Horace for a while?
I am three -quarters way through the crossword....I started it earlier but then became side tracked, when a friend popped round.......
I do not find it as easy as I did yesterday's.......
So far I especially liked "catapult", entourage", semi transparent" and "complacent"!
Yes, I got your friend's name!
With 3d, I would probably have gone the way of Johnny Cash, except that you had forewarned me by what you said!
From there, though, it was easy enough to pick up on Cilla Black!
And end up with "cedilla"!
I cannot parse 14A.........
I have "left alone " = granted solitude (def)
but cannot see why?
Still a few more clues to attempt...but right now, I am taking out the dog for a blowy, chilly walk!
