Hi, Rusty!
Yes, it was definitely a good day!
I tell you what though.....I now thoroughly appreciate even more the good job that our commentators Steve Cram - and Brendan Foster until his recent retirement - have done for us over the years!
The commentary from the floor of the arena is very inadequate in comparison with that which we get from the BBC commentary box, when watching the events on television!!
Well done, Steve and Brendan!
The dog returned home earlier this morning - she seems to have enjoyed her day at the seaside!
Yes, a good afternoon's tennis coming up, hopefully......
I shall of course be gunning for Roger to win the Men's Singles title!
And I shall support Heather and Henri in their match.
I like them.

Hello, Elle!
Steve and Brendan are top notch!
Lucky you do not watch cycling.
The commentators are not so good, apart from Juan Antonio Flecha.
I would like Roger to win, too.
I shall dip in and out of the final.
Cycling and golf on my TV, too.
Brooke Pancake does not seem to be playing this week!
Sky Sports are revamping their channels this week.
Not sure how it will affect me, but given the chance I shall be dropping the Sports channels which do not interest me.
I'll keep the golf and probably dump the rest.

Hi, Rusty!
So how does it work?
If you drop some of the Sports channels , does it mean that you pay less for the service?
I have until next February (so a long time yet) to decide what to do about EuroSport Player, on my desk top.
But I am not prepared to buy full price (£59- 99?) for only watching tennis and athletics.
I am wondering (when the time comes) whether to suggest that I still only pay the trial period of £19-99?
This is on the grounds that " a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush"?
Is "less" worth "more " to them, rather than my cancelling my order completely?
I have time yet to decide...
But what do you reckon?

Hello, Elle!
If it were me dealing with EuroSport, I would tell them that though I like the programmes, unfortunately the full price is away beyond my budget.
And do so in a friendly manner.
They may accommodate you, but you won't know until you try.
I use that approach each year, successfully, with BT, Sky TV, my mobile phone company, and the AA.
They all offer me reductions, which I gladly accept.
Sky Sports at present have around 7 channels.
I get them all.
But from the 18th, they are going to dedicate one sport to one channel.
You can choose which ones you want.
So, I shall keep the golf channel, and get rid of the ones I have no interest in. Formula 1, football, cricket, rugby.
It should be a bit cheaper for me.
We shall see!
And I will still have free BT Sport 1.

Hi, Rusty!
Thank you for the good advice.......it sounds a reasonable road to take......and it is true, too, that I cannot justify the full expense.
Yes, I shall put it nicely!
Well.....
Good to see Roger win!
I am very pleased!
A pity though for Marin....he too is a nice guy!
And he was obviously under stress....... and suffering from injury..........
These things happen......
It was lovely to see the good rapport between the two players at the end, and during the speeches.
Two gentlemen!
Roll on the Mixed Doubles later!

Hello, Elle!
There is good advice on "haggling" on Martyn Lewis' Money Saving web site.
Basically you are much more likely to get a discount from someone in a good mood, so absolutely no point in ranting and raving and putting the person you want to help you, in a bad mood.
Very pleased to see Roger win!
Hope the "mixed" final is good entertainment!

Hi, Rusty!
Goodness, I am having trouble staying awake!
I made it through the Mixed Doubles ......just!
but have had a small "zizz" since then!
I didn't get to bed last night until the small hours!
Well, it was a good match , but I didn't think that Heather and Henri played with their usual zest?
Or maybe they were just not allowed to do so?
Jamie and Martina were good!
Well done, all round!
Right......Wimbledon is over for another year.......
At least there are the Athletics World Championships still to come!
Now.......I must phone my cousin whilst I am still awake...my "turn", I think?

Hello, Elle!
Yes, your turn to phone your cousin!
I enjoyed the doubles.
Played in a very sporting fashion!
Pity there had to be losers.
I have been watching the women's golf.
Seven of the leading ten are South Koreans!
One of them, Hye Jin Choi, is a seventeen year old amateur player and she is joint leader!
Fingers crossed for her!
Yes, soon be the World Champs.
Laura Muir has just Tweeted from Padova, which may be in Italy?
She appears to be training there.

Hi, Rusty!
I managed to stay awake long enough to talk to my cousin!
She is soldiering on, but with a lot of pain in her hand where she had the operation.
I think it will take several weeks before the pain lessens and she can have the splint removed.
But hopefully the gain will be worth the pain!
The Koreans seem to be very good golfers? and a lot of them , at that.
Laura does get around....
I am amazed how she fits all this training and competing in with her veterinary studies.
Is Padova another name for Padua?
I seem to have heard of a St Antony of Padua?

Hello, Elle!
That is what I thought when I saw Padova.
I do not know, though.
It is either Padua or a Russian tennis player.
St Antony seems familiar.
I have heard of St Catherine of Siena, that's in Italy, too.
She had 24 brothers and sisters, apparently.
The South Korean women are great at golf.
Not at all sure why.
And there are no Korean men players that come to mind.
I hope young Miss Muir is paying attention to her studies, too!
