Patrick Campbell wrote "How to become a scratch golfer" - one of the funniest books I've ever read! Tears of laughter running down my face in places.

Good morning, Rusty!
Lovely and sunny here! much warmer too!
I have just come in.
Yes, I too vaguely remember Patrick Campbell
He had a stammer?
A friend of Frank Muir.
They captained the teams on "Call My Bluff".
Are you still doing the old Jumbos? I enjoyed puzzling over the clues you sent me!
I'm nowhere near as good as you at solving them, though.
I didn't know about the difference in grid size...but don't forget I am a relative newcomer to Cryptic Crosswords!
I am looking forward to the Diamond League - Highlights only , though
If you want to watch , it is showing on BBC1 at 1.15 for an hour.
What time is Miss L-B collecting you?

P.S. Rusty........and I think that Patrick Campbell was also associated with "This was the Week that Was"?
( better known as TW3)

Hello, Elle!
La Bamba is collecting me at 11.00.
She is a good time keeper, unlike her big sister Miss O!
I have several Jumbo books. Christmas presents!
They have Jumbos going back to the 70's in them.
I did not realise Patrick Campbell wrote so many books.
Yes, he had a bit of a stammer, and I am sure it was reflected in the titles of one or more books that he wrote.
Yes, I remember Frank Muir slightly, too.
The Times changed to a tabloid size a few years ago.
I wonder if that was a reason for the Jumbo shrink?
Smaller pages?
I best go and smarten myself up a bit for Miss La Bamba.
She has her "street cred" to think about!

Good afternoon, Rusty
I am wondering are you back home yet?
Did you and Miss L-B have a good time at the Pine Cone?
Was it busy?
I had to smile at your talk of "street cred"!
I remember my daughters going to school with their coats unfastened , and their skirts bands rolled up at the waist, all because of "street cred"........it mattered less that they had red noses and blue knees from the cold!
(Mind you, I also remember myself in my minis....!)
We are slaves to "fashion"!
Nearly time for the athletics...I shall watch that and then take the dog out ........
What is your 'programme' for the rest of the day?

Hello, Elle!
Pine Cone was quite busy and we had a fine time.
I have finished my puzzle.
I'll watch the cycling on Eurosport later.
"Anybody but Team Sky!"
Well, I am no slave to fashion!
Marks and Spencers from top to bottom and New Balance shoes, today!
But, La Bamba is very uncritical of me anyway!
I may go channel hunting later to see if I can find "America's Got Talent".
Other than that, a quiet day!

Hi, Rusty!
Good that you enjoyed your outing with Miss L-B!
(I could murder a bacon roll right now....I forgot about having lunch!)
The Diamond League has just finished showing on BBC.
There is nothing strange or startling to report.
Ujah from GB came first in the Men's 100m - a very good race for him
Aries Merritt, back on form after his kidney transplant, took first place in the Men's 110 Hurdles, with GB Andrew Pozzi (after a stunning start) taking fourth!
Helen Obiri , true to form, came first in the 1500m.
No sign of Laura Muir?
I hope you enjoy the cycling - what time does that start?
Right now....we are going out for a walk!

What's happening to the coverage of the Criterium du Dauphine? Eurosport seem to be showing it, except when they aren't (as, apparently, today!)

Chris, you are too late for it.
It was on earlier.
Pete Kennaugh (Isle of Man) won today on L'Alpe d'Huez.
