Hello, Elle!
Well done, the Book People!
I remember good dealings with them.
I had several books arrive today, from Amazon and eBay, including one about Dr Crippen.
I am not sure he was a real/proper doctor though?
Can not you watch The Voice and record Casualty?
The fog has returned here.
I hear it is bad down town along the river.
Hope it is better in Edinburgh!

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, I am well pleased with the Book People!
Did I tell you that I paid just short of £30 for a set of books that would normally have cost just over £100?
A marvellous deal!
Yes, I shall have to choose to record one or the other programme.......but my usual policy is to record a favourite programme whether or not I am watching it at the scheduled time, because inevitably someone will phone me in the middle!
But probably I can watch "Casualty" later on BBC iplayer.
Anyway, I must away now with the dog for her long overdue walk!
I shall watch the recording of the Athletics when I come back!
Are you watching Edinburgh " live" - or Victoria first - now?

Hello, Elle!
Yes, I have memories of excellent deals from the Book People!
Just watched the mixed relay and it was good.
I willn't say what happened as you have not seen it, other than to say Edinburgh is pretty much fog free compared to here!
Victoria will have to wait until the cross country is finished.
Actually the racing is not great today anyway, so I probably would not watch.
I do not watch other than the really top horses and there are none running today!

Hi, Rusty!
Well, it didn't actually rain whilst we were out...but it was a muddy mess under foot!
And a very filthy dog to boot!
I have just finishing cleaning her up!
And there is a load of towels , dog bedding etc now in the washing machine!
I am glad that the Edinburgh Cross Country went well........
I am just getting something for us to eat......and then I am going to sit with a tray on my knee in front of the TV, watching said races!
I am looking forward to it!

Hi, Rusty!
Whew!
What a race!
Oh , the mixed relay went very well...Laura and James West did great...but it was all thoroughly surpassed by Callum Hawkins in the Men's Elite!
Nail-biting stuff!
What a fantastic run!
Such a pity that Callum was literally pipped at the post by the American Korir.
But a game effort and so nearly achieved!
Callum has a great future ahead of him.
Good tactics, too, to take on the lead so early.
Mo didn't really get a look in today, although he admitted to not being "ready" as yet.
In seventh place, Mo was 46 seconds behind Callum.
Andy Duncan came twelfth.
I need a coffee to revive me......

Hello, Elle!
Yes, the athletics were good and so was the course, and commentators..
Callum is the biz!
Great run from him and very encouraging for the future.
Yes, Sir Mo was a bit off the pace today but he has the summer on his mind.
Laura was Laura, just super!
She has a record of Dame Kelly's in her sights now.
Not sure when, but it is in Birmingham.
I have read a wee bit of my book.
Dr Crippen comes across as quite a nice man!

Hi, Rusty!
I think Laura's next target is Kelly Holmes' 1km Indoor record?
The Birmingham Indoor Grand Prix is on the 18th February......so be sure to put the date in your diary!
There are several forthcoming Athletic events.......I have made a note of them.
Sport (for me!) is looking up!
Did you watch/ listen to Victoria's commentating?
Btw, I have finished the 15x15 today, barring parsing for two clues, 7d and 17d....I am still thinking about those!
I have just had BB on the phone, inviting us to tea on his birthday!
It isn't until a week next Wednesday but he is getting excited!
We are having a birthday cake with five candles , so he tells me!
Right, next on the agenda........"The Voice"!

Good evening, Elle!
Wee hint for 7d. It is a German car.
17 is straightforward, surely?
I have Laura in the diary!
Yes, it is Dame Kelly's 1000 metres record, I think?
1000 is not a standard event in athletics
Not heard anything about Vic.
I am sure she will do fine!
You will enjoy BB's party!

Hi, Rusty!
Well, I did not enjoy "The Voice" very much.
The programme is now being produced by ITV, who have changed the format somewhat (from the BBC's version ) and not for the better in my opinion.
I am afraid that it no longer "gels" for me!
I really enjoyed it previously...but doubt that I shall watch it again.
So..... no competition in future weeks for "Casualty"!
I think 1,000m is a usual distance for Indoor events?
Yes, forget 17d - I think I was expecting too much of the clue.
I have "bedtimes" and was looking for more than was there!
But I still cannot explain 7d?
I've got "overview" = "summary", for definition?
but cannot parse it?
I cannot understand the car reference?
It's either too late......or I'm too thick......or both!

Hello, Elle,
7 is overview.
Series of deliveries is "over" at cricket.
That is, is IE.
The car is VW, short for Volkswagen, a German car maker.
I have never seen The Voice.
I like BGT but it will be a while before it is on.
