Morning, Rusty!
I think we are all set for a very hot day! It was already 18C when the dog and I went out this morning!
How is it in your neck of the woods?
Right, I have now ordered three of my four books!
I managed to get "1915:The Death of Innocence" and "They Called it Passchendaele" for 1p each, and, as you said, "Somme" as a hard back for 86p (thanks for that) all from World of Books.
I also wanted to purchase "To the Last Man..." but that
wasn't available from The World of Books, which I prefer - very reliable regarding condition and also good
packaging.
I'm not in a hurry for the last book so will keep an eye open for a better deal on that one.
(Yes, the water was lovely!)
No, my daughter isn't visiting today as she will be at work - we'll talk on the phone tonight and meet up at the weekend.
What are you up to today? (think twice before you answer!)

I don't have your lovely weather, Doglet, although it is dry!
Have you thought of keeping a journal on the daily lives of your little friends? Be nice to look back one day on their goings-on.
Poor old Richard 111.
And Cnut and the waves! Good story, though!

Hi, Doglet!
Our most frequent visitors are two greys squirrels and two wood pigeons - all of whom come for nuts.
The squirrels are the 'children' of our original squirrel whom we are presuming has now died, as it's a long time since we've seen her.
She used to sit under our dining time with our dog (they were great friends!) and eat her nuts in situ!
One of the wood pigeons, under the impression that he is a domestic pet, follows the dog around the garden, waddling along behind!!

Hello everybody,

Just to warn you that if you think it is hot today, it should be hot all week, followed by a mini heat-vave all next week, with temps going up and above 35C here, and 28/30C in many parts of UK - particularly so in the South, but even you Rusty should reach the 21-22C bracket if not more!

So there you go !

Good day, Pigale!
If my weather reaches 15C I am delighted!
And I love bright frosty mornings!

Bon Jour, Elle! (do not respond in kind, that is the limit of my French. Pigale's influence!)
My preferred seller is World of Books.
Trustworthy and great packaging!

I am not sure if you can raise an alert with Amazon for your book. You can with eBay. I get emails every day from eBay for things I am interested in.
But, no rush.
Fang and me are off to shop.
I shall leave Rosie in charge at home.
Hector is snoozing...lightly.

Not in the Summer ! Well, not for me I'm afraid;

At 11am it was already 24C, due to reach 28-30C this afternoon, but this is OK, so long as it remains a dry heat - the moment it gets close, with a high humidity percentage, then it gets uncomfortable.

By the way, we too have a lot of squirrels around here, but they are red - we do not have the grey ones. First grey squirrel I ever saw was in Richmond Park!

Hi, Pigale!
According to the BBC weather report for our locality , it is not going to reach 28C until next Wednesday and then will only last for two days! but of course all could change before then!
Personally, I prefer the temp to stay below 24C; I don't like the heat, especially if it's humid ( drains me of energy and makes my hair curl!)
I know a lot of people don't like grey squirrels but 'ours' are sweet - they knock on the kitchen window to tell us they are there!

Hi Elle,

Humidity only makes heat uncomfortable and it also is a forwarning sign of impending thunderstorms - Stupidely I am petrified of them; I know a lot of people think they are beautiful to watch but if we have a real strong one, I end up in one tiny cupboard- like room in the basement, because there is no window and I can't see the lightening!

Don't laugh, I truly am scared!

I do agree that grey squirrels are beautiful and they certainly looked very tame in Richmond, with everyone feeding them! I was told that they had driven all red squirrels out of most parts of England - Why is that ? ~Are they more damaging to cultures?
