it seems that many of you found a helplful site via google - I couldn't find anything useful with a list of terms relating to the theme which is why I am still in the dark about some of my answers eg 8,6d...though I am pretty sure I'm correct.

This last one eludes me . It looks like Bancroft, farm/ croft and he was a peer but the parsing defeats me.
