Last two..

This is a themed crossword which replaces the word OLD within the answer with the word NEW (I think)
Anyway, on this basis....
8d Stop city centre hotels blocking upland (8)
I have: W?P?H?E?
7d Harry told his granny "I'm boring grandad" (3,5)
I have: N?W / ?I?E?
I think the answer is OLD TIMER and following the above rule this becomes NEW TIMER but can't quite parse it

Hope I haven't confused too much. Just hoping someone else is doing this crossword

7d:OLD-TIMER is an anagram of told+I'm+ER (Queen)
8d: Your P is wrong: it's WITHHOLD
Def. stop;city centre is "it"; hôtels=hh;wold=upland
---then change to "WITHHNEW" of course!

4WD stands for four wheel drive
so you are looking for a jeep type vehicle
hope this helps

Hi,

For 20d think of that whopping great american 4WD that Arnie Schwartzenegger is famous for.

Cheers
