Good Morning Everybody - Late again! But I was determined to do the Big One by myself, so I purposely didn't look at this thread for once. When I did I saw that Ann had lost her Mum, which is hard at this time of year in particular, so if you are still reading this Ann, my condolences too. As for the puzzle itself, 29d is my last one and I see that others didn't much care for it either. I suppose I have the answer but for the life of me I don't see the connection with the clue. Anyway, my very best to you all and for those of you with Lums, as much reeking as you can manage.

Hi CH - post 39 provides the explanation for 29d if you want to know it. It was my class clue as well when I did it.

To the Crossword, yes, 29D was not the best of clues. Also struggled with 57A & 53A. Did like 27D if only for the many memories of the series. I also enjoyed 21A, 56A & 33A.

Thank you Crypto. I must confess that I did read the whole thread when I'd finished and found post 39 but I'm glad to know that others felt the same way about it as I did. I wonder whether the compilers ever read our comments........

Hello Barney, if you've read through the threads,both of these clues have been explained. I've even given the answer,accidentally,to 12a. I thought I'd explained 9d also. Maybe I did it badly.However, payment=fee (tin-opener)first letter of tin.Place 't' whithin fee,you get another word for a 'fair'. Hope that helps.Bless
