The theme...
Help with the theme may also be sought here. The help given should be just a nudge, a pointer in the right direction. Aim to be helpful, aim to avoid spoiling the puzzle for others. Any posts which, even inadvertently, reveal too much of the theme are likely to be removed.

There are many regulars on these Listener threads, but newcomers are always welcome.
Unsolicited help, whether for clues or for the theme, is likely to be removed.
The Listener is a unique puzzle and should be treated with respect.

In my usual baffled state again. I have a full grid and what happens next (5 words I THINK) but, other than the first clue with a string of letters missing, I fail to see the thematic property in the other seven. As for the replaced letters...................

Why does posting work wonders? Now got the theme, and understand the replaced letters, just a little way to go now.
