Actually not quite. Both the singular part and the remainder, separately, are individual clues to the solution.

Gosh first time I've been able to finish a Prize on the first pass. I have the answer but the only thing I'm not sure of is what 'essentially sent back' is indicating in 25a?

It’s directing you to reverse the middle two letters of the pulses. As mentioned unthread, there is an alternative spelling of the word which, if used, would not require the reversal. But I don’t think it invalidates the clue.

This is a mistake. It indicates that the central letters in the pulse are reversed, but it's unnecessary as it's a valid spelling unreversed.
