Definitely at the easier end of the spectrum - and the contrast with last week’s stellar offering probably makes that all the more apparent. But it is neatly constructed: the positioning of 5, 14, 12 and 16 in the grid fits the theme and the first bit of the highlighting given by the extra letters produces a suitable historical “picture”. I will certainly not complain - indeed, thank you, Dash - an easier one works well for me as we have guests arriving tomorrow!

Agreed, a nice easy puzzle. My only query is to ask "why now" for the particular event commemorated- it's not an anniversary in any significant sense. It feels a rather random theme.

Easy, but still neatly done.

Dylan - the only source for what happened was written by a monk, William of Malmesbury, 900 years ago this year, so that might be the justification for getting the puzzle in the queue. Not every week sees an anniversary though.

Struggling here as I cannot make sense of my misprints from 17-24 inclusive. I have the two changed letters and 7 highlighted cells from the last 3 words of the instruction. The other eighteen are currently eluding me.

Now got 25 cells highlighted - and very clever it is too. Having the wrong misprint in 21a was my big problem.

Thank you Dash, an enjoyable and not too taxing grid fill followed by an interesting exploration of the theme that I knew little about. As Spock might have said "fascinating".
