As I have often remarked to mrs buddy, I love nothing more than a defiantly Anglocentric puzzle. Thanks all for the tips.

As far as placing entries, I used the drxx-approved method of using a spreadsheet, making it much easier to move letters and strings around during my trials and errors.

Enjoyed this, certainly a test for Google!
Just one quibble, couldn't find one 'Anglocentric' clue answer, cropped up in neighbouring land?

If you mean the four-letter German word, muraria, i agree. I was using Anglo to mean British! I knew I should have said UK-centric πŸ™ˆ

Loved it. Brilliant.
Enjoyed last week's 'gold' work-out, but had a few quibbles.
This was perfect!

FGSLTW, column six, try an M and β€œ.”
I have a full grid, but not happy with the ten β€œ.”s
I have one on row three;1-r5; 2-r6; 2-r8; 2-r9; 1-r11;1-r13.
Any help ?

dfg2, I have 1 r1, 2 r5, 2 r6, 2 r8, 2 r9, 1 r13, which is a symmetrical pattern. So your ones in r3 and r11 should probably be in r1 and r5

The M of the second clue of column 8 is not a β€œ.” . It’s an &lit, where the wordplay gives an anagram of oral + the back of exam.

That threw me for a long time
