Justsolve, it’s a play on “evening”, think of it as a verb.

Good puzzle. 11a my favourite too.
23a doesn't need "tennis".
25a needs an abbreviation indicator.

Chris, I recall you set 25a as a Clueless word a while back. Not sure why I remember that but it stuck in my mind for some reason. It’s Clueless 589.

19A can only be one thing but parsing?

Hi Cymro,

Imagine you wanted to build a do-it yourself plane - you'd buy it in ??? form.

Now just transfer that to if you wanted to make or get halos and miracles - you might buy a ?? ???

Remembere, the "did you say" indicates it's a homophone so just pronounce it rather than read it.

Thanks for that explanation of 19a Brenden - (I was also at a loss as to how to parse it) but I'm still not sure what 'certificates' is doing there. Wouldn't 'makers' have fitted better??

Thanks also to Jono for enlightening me on 11a! Agree that it's one of the best clues.

All in all an easier than usual solve, but very enjoyable.

Hi Jules,

I took it to mean that the only proof of the miracle would be a self completed certificate - given that one can't just send off for miracles:-)

... but you're right, "makers" would work just as well I think given that my previous reasoning could also apply to 'halos'.
