18d - 4 letter "left hurriedly" goes around "I" from the clue and the "related features" - definition is "cheated"

Aha! Just adjusted 18d. It all makes sense now ...

Wrt 18d, the hint was invaluable but I think that the word is not in Chambers? Also, the def of 'cheated' is a bit of a stretch?

Mothman, 18d. is in Chambers, with a synonym of 'swindle'. Before I had the correct crossing entries, I considered 3 different answers. You may need a different set of 'features'.

Thank you mattrom. You are of course perfectly correct. My 'features' were fine but I read the number as an 'el' not an 'eye'.

No-one else has asked this so I feel a bit foolish. I've finished the crossword (thanks, Brendan) and have faithfully listed the 'features' from half the clues and the additional letters from the others. But I can't find any rearrangement of the latter that makes words, let alone that relates to the features. I can extract one word that obviously does, but that leaves me with a heap of letters that don't rearrange into anything. Have others solved this more satisfactorily?
