Hi pendragon,
No, don't look at the sketch script for guidance. Just follow the theme of the sketch in deriving your answers....one thing leads to another!

well, unless I am completely mistaken, a number of my answers do appear in the text of the sketch ... and I can see how some clues may dribble over (for example 1d/2d, maybe 7/8/9d) but the majority of my answers seem to fit the clue integrally - eg 1/6/19 ac

for instance, the 1d clue could be apply to 2d solution - but 3d seems to me a perfectly contained clue ...

As a Yank, I was unfamiliar with the sketch and performers, but stumbled on to it by sheer luck. Sketch was genius and also made my Lincoln cent hit the deck. Brilliant weave and homage.

Thanks for the hints to the sketch. Coming from India I haven't heard of the sketch and could not relate to the answers although I managed to solve the crossword.

Thanks Jono for the grid.

Before I put this away, can I check a couple of parsings...

16a - Sort out before, you'd set up to go about it? (7)

"Sort out" is in my answer but it's not "before" anything, so does "before" indicate an olden times way of saying "you'd"?

25a - Creature taken for a ride outside, only needing to
have one central bit? (9)

I just want to double-check I've got the right answer and that the "creature" inside "taken for a ride... (with) one central bit" is also a 'species', 'breed' or 'type'?

Hi Bren, yes, that’s how I read both of those.
