remember it well - it is a really brilliant sketch ... BUT I am finding it maddening having to continually tell myself no part of the answer is a definition!

Yes this was quite brilliant. Revisiting the sketch both amusing and critical for the solution. Heavy hint in the punctuation of the clues.
