Thanks, Thom, glad you got there. I think it's good to show what letters you have already - partly to see how you close you are, partly to rule out any mistakes!
Struggling to complete this, the NE corner. 15a would be great to get.
I have SU?L????
Vehicle research location agreed. Two words.
I have one thematic to get, so maybe it has no definition?
A nerdy (make that seriously, probably close to pathologically, nerdy) point. The first undefined location confused me at first because it is spelled in a way that locals would not recognise. But I see that the spelling in that rather odd version is used on the subject’s Wiki entry. Nerd out.
Jack, I don’t quite understand your point. If there was a puzzle about Napoleon’s 1812 campaign, would you expect the grid entry for its furthest reach to be MOCKBA and not MOSCOW to respect the local usage? I think you would be in the minority.
It was confessedly a minuscule and tedious point. But perhaps “customary” rather than “local” would have been more felicitous. The unusual spelling is used on the subject’s wiki page but enter that spelling into Google and it defaults to the more usual version.
I agree that using the Cyrillic alphabet in an English language crossword would be a tad niche. But it may already be a gleam in some fiendish setter’s eye….😉
Hard! I have finally finished. But I have three answers that I can't parse.
10A Half built arch, one that's worked in Cornwall?
20D Rating facilities lacking I am reviewing.
33A Exhibit duty ultimately, or order. (The correction letter must be a N)
