This is really tough. Filled most of grid and have the 2sets of 8 letters plus some place names but struggling a lot now. Can any one give hints for 1a Early sign of dementia, tiddly lizard Mark put back (10)? Also SE corner requires more work. And unclued shaded area .OT..B…D Any help? Thanks!

Fgsltw, that's one of the 'lacks a definition' clues. 'Early sign of dementia' gives the first letter, then 'tiddly', losing its M,mark, and the M goes inside a common (in crosswords) lizard. It's an odd word!
PS Your B at the bottom is wrong.

23 A usual life force, a usual black and a usual tea- a very unusual word!

4d first word definition. Turn=U, blur has misprint - blue=sad, jazz music RAG

16a misprint in final word. Roman numerals involved. Two words split thus: (6,2). Think football.
