Despite having what the extra letters spell out and much grid-staring and head-scratching since Sunday I am still none the wiser about the endgame. I assume what needs to be highlighted involves either a 'circle' or a 'square' and will go through the ambiguous cells. Other than that I am completely lost. A nudge in the right direction would be much appreciated.

Thank you for that Quisling. I'll go back to it later. Before I posted earlier I tried starting in some of the ambiguous cells but got nowhere.

AP, one word in Quisling’s nudge is particularly helpful if you are going to be looking again for something in the grid.

Thank you Jack. I spent a good three to four hours yesterday evening going through the grid while following Quisling's hint re the rotation but still couldn't see anything. I'm beginning to suspect I've entered the words in the grid wrongly. (I have 2 beginning with P in the middle row.) I'll have another go at it later once I get back from an unavoidable appointment.

Your 2 beg with P are correct,
Start in the middle of the 2nd row and go SW....

Thank you Bunty and Grunger. I think I now have it but I have been misleading myself with my own stupidity. Even though I had the two ambiguous answers beginning with L in my alphabetical list of answers I'd entered them in my rough grid with N/T rather than S/T. I really shouldn't be let anywhere near EV.

AP, are you sure about those L words? I don't have S/T ...
