Amazingly, I have solved 11 clues.

Could I please ask for some guidance on how to approach 5a and 8a? I’m not sure where to begin.

It is a setter's favourite trick in 5a. Many English words can be pronounced in different ways. What might a secretary take in a meeting?
8a

Think of nursery rhymes Then notice that Cedric and Les has 11 letters..

Apologies

See if part of it reminds you of a nursery rhyme. But you'll need to be nimble.

I am down to my last 7 clues but I am stuck.

In 14a, does “railway” mean RY?

Can I ask for some advice for 17a and 21a please?

Yes to RY. For 17 a 3-lletter twerp inside a 4-letter heath, and for 21 it's K followed by a word for extremely stuck up with the first letter removed.

Hi druh.

14a - yes.
I’ll answer about the other two clues soon.

Best wishes.

Looks like darla beat me to it. I think 21a is a bit off though (the clue, not darla’s hint). Seems to me that the extremely stuck up should be most stuck up.

I don't know if these are getting easier or if I'm catching on to their idiosyncrasies, but this was my fastest Everyman yet (began around #4000), completed in less than half an hour.

As for "extremely stuck up": I agree that "most stuck up" would make for an easier clue to solve, but "extremely stuck up" is certainly not inappropriate for the word it indicates.
