As you say, the theme was pretty wacky, and ties in with the title (who knew?)

I think 26d is the one referred to in the first Chambers definition for the grid entry.

To clarify, both parts are homophones

Ah! Thanks Quisling. 👍

I actually parsed most of the themed answers after making the necessary entries and learned something about the one I did parse. It added a whole new dimension to a typical seaside meal. 😄

I'm all done, except the unchecked letter in 24d. I have the extra letter as P, but still can't see it !

Lumen, you need two of 'em and it makes a word that looks like an enzyme.

Really crawling through this. The whole "we're only defining most of the clue ha ha ha" conceit is giving me a headache. Would love a hint or two on -

11D - Pieces upset Les, man insuring meadow in northern England shed (11)

and

16A - More than one mouth is all but dry close to oasis (6)

I also have four out of the five letters for 26D and can't find a single thing that fits!

Thanks gang

Thanks Krauton! That helped. Am I sensing a "fragrant" theme to this crossword or have I lost my mind?

26d is one of the 5. A well known word, so you might want to check your crossers. 30a was not my first answer
