Williamseal, I was in a similar position to you but I have found the song. I think your 24a is wrong and only one of 33a and 19d is correct. I can’t work out which one

I don't agree with 23 or with 19d (tho I have to admit I have not yet fully parsed the latter)

On the other hand, and to complicate things further, I am afraid I do think 24a contains an extra word

Except that on further thought, and having parsed 19d, I now realise that Williamseal was right to include that one. Sorry!

Thanks to everyone trying to help. It is not proving a good weekend. Having taken account of the above. I now have the following with a surplus word: 1, 9, 13 across and 4, 14, and 19 down. 23 (reluctantly) and 24 across have been eliminated. Oh dear! Is this right and where else should I look. I have a feeling that the chorus of the song may well begin with the word s*n* ? Sorry to pester

Williamseal, You seem to be doing quite well to me! I'm sure you'll get thete. Having started the last 2 Listeners a week late and submitting at the last minute, I was looking forward to a leisurely solve on this one. Then the Better Half decided to hire a digger for the weekend and I've spent the last 2 days barrowing topsoil from one end of the farm to the other. Finally sitting down to Free-for-all now. Looks quite manageable, judging by everybody's comments.

Could someone give a hint as to wordplay for 23? Thanks.
