Help towards the theme may also be sought here. The help given should be just a nudge, a pointer in the right direction - and definitely not anything which would spoil the puzzle for others. Any posts which, even inadvertently, reveal too much of the theme are likely to be removed.

crowdedmorning - the last 3 letters of the wordplay comes from a word for 'piercing' backwards, and also missing it's last letter (ie briefly from behind). Hope you can work out the rest from that!

Thanks Toffee, lovely puzzle. Not too easy, not too hard. Spent several hours on it, and really enjoyed.

I am a little confused/concerned about the location I have highlighted. Got a full grid, parsed all the clues, got the song and the theme. The only reservation I have is verifying the occasion - I know it definitely correlates with the first line of the song.
