I don't understand the definition for the original answer? Experience of Joe. I thought that meant an American soldier?

I kept forgetting that the thematic clues have a misprint too!

Very late start this week - got the quote and the theme and the "division" - got these very early on and started entering answers without worrying about the alterations - lots of mistakes and corrections and was just about to give up when I found a few more - but can't make anything out of 9 down with the letters I've got - some of which are sure to be wrong - if there's anyone still looking in could I please have help - "Thin broken record with dark liquid will " ( 12, 3 words ) I know the misprint is the i - but I can't see what it is and would love to stop trying to sort it out - thanks !

misprint in definition (last word); wordplay is anag THIN + RECORD + DARK LIQUID. clue is thematic.

Thanks for this - still scratching my head - nothing fits the letters I have - so will have to give up - and maybe check all my crossers tomorrow !

Really thanks! As soon as I typed the previous reply I swore very loudly and wrote in the answer - which fit perfectly ! Too long spent overthinking this one!
