Graham9perkins, re post 30. I'm wondering if you have the correct answer to 19d. - or perhaps I'm wrong. I have the wordplay as "Clear of all undesirables except group of" - but my answer isn't treated, and is fits a def. in Chambers.
Help please with last straight clue, 34a, Last obstruction before clubhouse. (5) Presume it ends in CH as that is in Chambers.
Misprint in first word.
Still have three thematics to finish. Pretty tough!
Thank you, Kruger. Definitely “hard but fair” (to quote the Pythons). Also an excellent, and elegant, bit of construction, spurious “i” notwithstanding. I was helped by having a wife born in the right hand side of the grid.
I only have 10d left to solve.
As it's nearly Thursday, can someone help me with the 'soft food' and confirm if the Scottish lover has a J? I assume that is only in the original answer, if so.
Lumen, yes, it's the 'European', then (Scottish) lover, all in a kitchen process which puts food through something like a sieve. The lover remains unchanged.
