If I've parsed 11a correctly, 'it'll keep you in shape' has to be one of the worst definitions in history. Who has ever done THAT to keep in shape? (Although maybe I'm just finding it 16a because I had to cheat with 7d - of all things - in order to finish!)

Edc and Rogidissimo the definition word in 24a clue is a single construction (say around a building site) made up of any number of 24s (the solution word). I hope that makes sense!

Phil1000 I think what the clue alludes to is that you have to maintain your body shape in odere to perform a 11d, rather than suggesting it as a way to keep fit!

Thanks JustSolve: yes, that was what I was struggling to explain (to myself as well as to edc)!

Started wood searching etc with 6 to go so about normal for me.

Agree with Phil10000 @10. 11d is weak and 7d is too hard then just outrageous when you see it!

I did like 6a and 13d. Also enjoyed the somewhat slangy components of 1d and 13a. A bit of modernisation in crosswordland?

Also enjoyed going off on a side quest to learn about 22d which turned a couple of assumptions I had on their heads! Thanks Everyman.

I'm with Darla on this one - completed but pretty joyless. Some of the clues felt a bit clunky. I still haven't seen the wordplay for 7d and 11d but can't be bothered spending more time on it. The sun's shining and beckoning me.

Managed to parse 14d, even though the first 4 letters for “each” is new to me. Can’t parse 7d though.

7d is hidden words! Definition is etc. I thought 26a was clever as it is an anagram meaning you sort of do to the letters in the fodder what the answer is, if you see what I mean!

Could I please ask for some guidance on how to solve 1a & 9a?
