Ah thanks Jonno and Mattrom. American spelling didn't cross my mind.

Thanks Jono - I have no idea what atomic numbers are, so no wonder I couldn't parse it!

Hi, I enjoyed that, as ever and I think I have all the answers except that I cant parse 25 across in spite of the discussion above. Wrap, yes, but Cuban? hero? club? broad hints would be lovely!

This was a bit toughish, with four or five answers escaping me until the third sitting just now.

The fact that no clue pushed my "That's not square-dealing à la Macnutt!" buttons is always a good sign.

I had never heard the answer to "Fight vulgarisms in grand source of illumination"; in fact I never before encountered that first word, but since the correct answer was the only possibility (cue Sherlock Holmes quote), it had to be right.

Several clues I have never parsed (e.g., 25A) but expect to find them explained when I browse previous posts.

16D was Really. Devilish.

PS Of course I got the definition part of 25A, which was hammered home repeatedly. Just not the wordplay.

Thanks Jono. However that abbreviation is not used in physics. At least not up to the 2000s

Am I the only one who couldn't get pyjamas or pyjamad of my head? S. E. Corner took longer than all the rest, but lots to smile at.
