I meant I had corrected myself - my first answer for 16d was wrong.

Can anyone parse 2d for me? Assuming I have the right answer, I'm fixated on a Greek philosopher but can't see how he changes :)

@dougalf 2d is 3,2 made up from a form of music followed by a Greek letter, all reversed, giving "piece of crockery".

I thought was a good mix of write-ins and head-scratchers. 25a was last one in, largely because I had never heard of the Cuban and had forgotten about the hero (I first heard that US expression a few weeks ago in a Guardian or Everyman). Thank you, Everyman!

Enjoyed this one – can anyone explain how 19d parses? I think I got it from the deity part and the definition but don't know where the other letters come from.
