It is a rare indulgence for me to tackle Inquisitor at the weekend. This puzzle was a delightful two hour solve, just right for me. Is this a debut from Elpenor? If so, I was very impressed.

I haven't properly parsed that one! My last in. Object form of "I" inside a humble abode. That accounts for five sixths of the solution - I would be happy to be enlightened about the last letter😒

Thank you both. I moved my *S* the wrong way……stuck on 39aa now: forgetting first slice of nutritious toast, left in huff (4). I have S?L?

39a Try “rusk” minus first slice, add an “L”, jumble, gives sulk.
Any help with 26d ?

jogamel: 'toast' is informal. Def is 'huff'.

dfg2: def is 'month', but not in our calendar. It's not even the common name in its own calendar, as far as I can see.

Sorry, dfg2, I wasn't very helpful: think of something you might wear if you're a bit clumsy when drinking.
