Thanks Brendan. I did have it - just couldn't see where to use 'with these' but that makes sense now.

rocky, 23d shows up in cryptics occasionally. It's one of those words I only learned via solving crosswords.

I just did a response, but it has disappeared.

Thank you to Propero for explaing Ninas. Unfortunately, I don't have enough answers to find any. I have still to get any in the south west corner and am short of a few in the south east. I was pleased I got 7d and 9ac, but can't see their significance.

Please can I have some hints: for 21 ac. Is the definition development? 20d I've no idea. 28ac I'm guessing it starts REP.

21 defn. is "development". It's a rare word, but parses as a common word for "learning" with one vowel dropped.

Geeker a bit like okapi. Crops up all the time when you need an i at the end. I shall look out for it in the future.

20 is difficult. Definition "travelling". Second word parses as (1,4) with the 4 an anagram of "road".

28 your 3d letter is wrong. Defn. "once more lines up". Solution is a straight anagram of R (end of tour) plus 2 words in clue.

I had a PDM whilst eating and got 16ac, which led to 13d and in turn led to 21ac.

I still have to crack 20d, 22d, 23d, 26d and 24ac, 27ac and 28ac. Getting the latter may help me get 26d.

I don't like the second pop in 13d. Is 20d really a reference to a type of game?

I had thought of the answer to 20d, but wasn't sure of the parsing. Thanks for your hint for 28ac. I've got that now. I'll work on the remaining ones now if I can placate my cat, who doesn't like the food I've given him.
