Good fun and I spotted a rhyming pair - win, win! 😀

Everything parsed except 26a which I got from the crossers and definition plus the "Everman" at the start but, aside from that, I cannot make head nor tail of it?

COD's - the aforesaid rhyming pair, both with lovely surfaces.

Brendan, you probably figured it out by now, but 26A parses 2+1+5.

Re 26: maybe look for a letter on your gearstick, then gives up power?

I kept trying to reverse everything after "Everyman" because of "turn over" and even though I couldn't make it work, I just couldn't get the idea out of my head!

I seem to remember there was an exceptionally long initials clue a few weeks back that was commented on here, not sure if it was longer than today's or if it's a tie?
