Easier than most, but challenging enough to be enjoyable. I had to use Google several times. FOI 14a, which I thought was a giveaway clue. LOI 4d, which I thought was a good clue when I finally got it. Others that I liked were 25d, 16/27a, & 25d. In answer to a couple of comments from Chrise: (1) 16/17 has been a "thing" for a very long time, certainly more than a century, though I think the expression is probably much less common now than it was when I was a child. As someone mentioned, the commonest usage of that expression now is a particular manufacturer's weird (IMO) use of "***** *****" as an abbreviation for what they used to call "***** ***** biscuits". (2) Yes, 12a is almost always commercial, but a dictionary search confirms that it can be political too.
