First two are both in Chambers. Don't see a problem with 16,17 - we had it last night.

darla - my slight problem with 11a (which I don’t think your alternative solves) is that I think it should lead to an 11-letter non-word with an s in the middle. In other words, although I like it, I don’t think it quite works.

i don't understand 25d. there are two possible answers, differing in the 4th letter, but neither seems to parse. where does the bird fit in?

chrise: the bird (hiding in) is in the last 3 letters.

…and only one of the possible answers using the correct crossers fits the definition.
