yes, it does appear that 8 and 9 contradict the rubric - wonder if he just wasn't counting ... I have two threesomes I can't find in the grid but have lost the will - doesn't help in solving.
pgbj - Indeed, the alphabet has to wrap around on itself to give the 26 trios.
buddy - I still believe that the trios in 8 and 9 are consecutive.

I enjoyed this once I realised that crossing off the 3-letter sequences from my 3 written-out alphabets had to take account of the fact that 26 doesn't divide by 3. Have not managed to parse 14a, although my answer must be right.
First time we have finished a Christmas special in one day - quite enjoyable and a good few amusing moments.
Have answers for 14, 18, 39 but can't parse: help appreciated.
