Interesting how different people found a way in to this. Mine was 11a.

favourite 7d (3rd from last in, followed by 6d and 3d) for the sneaky definition

If you enjoyed this theme, and missed it at the time, then Jay’s Mid-Week Puzzle #4 is still available via the search function.

(Shameless self-promotion I know, but hey ;-)

I enjoyed this crossword, but would much appreciate a nudge for 3d – only one possible answer, it would seem, given the crossers, but I can't parse it for the life of me!

11a was the way in for me as well, constructed from the wordplay then googled to see if they existed! I was quite pleased with that but now ground to a halt... Will come back to it after a sunny stomp with the dog but I think my gk will be the problem.

9a was the first one in which made 8a rather obvious. The rest went fairly speedily; even the dubious homophone at 23a EXCEPT for 10a. I have _O_E and an idea that starts with an exclamation of surprise but I can't relate it to the rest of the clue.

I'm not happy with my answer to 10a. Any chance of a nudge? Thanks.
