All done (eventually!). Just three queries remaining.

13 - I'm pretty sure I've got the misprint correct but it leaves the word and the one that precedes it as a strange phrase which I suppose just about fits with the definition.

35 - I know the definition, the misprint and how the answer is arrived at but it seems to leave 3 letters unaccounted for.

4 - I can't get the 2nd and 3rd letters from the wordplay. They don't seem related to the relevant word in the clue.

I can only answer 35 of those, but that's a word for "in case" containing an anagram.

Made major strides, thanks in part to understanding 1a. Seven clues left to solve, annoyingly most of them being in the bottom-right that would help to reveal the "alias".

Stale means archaic with the misprint in the next word. Popping refers to pawnbrokers. You may have the wrong misprint if you also have a mistake for the misprint in 20.
13 - rare can mean excellent.

I have the names of A and B, resolved the clashes and have highlighted the location. So far, so good. However, I cannot work out what B’s action resulted in at 25a plus 3. Help would be much appreciated!

B applied the same treatment to A (25 doesn't go far enough in this respect, but it's close).

Been struggling with this one a lot. I have most of the grid fill, but little of the endgame. I am still unable to solve 1A even with previous hints in this thread. Also I have the answer for 40A but none of the parse or the misprint (which would possibly help me with B?)

I can't say any more for 1a other than what's already been said. For 40, the clue splits after the 7th word (if that helps).

simond9x - Thanks! I had been assuming an incorrect misprint for 40 that was the source of my struggles. Maybe now I can find B...
