Not a problem, Cockie, and it’s not the first time this has happened, I often get emails returned because the address is wrong. I’m glad we’ve sorted this one out, doesn’t often happen😇

Contrary to Jack's and Malone's comments on this puzzle, I liked it . I was stuck on a few for a while but put it aside and returned with fresh eyes to complete.
It brought back happy memories of my childhood where several thematics were in the house.
25a jogged my memory of a visit in 1964 to the Winter Gardens where he performed Tchaikovsky's violin concerto..... Magic

Jazzgirl, I'm pleased you (and any others) enjoyed the puzzle, even if I didn't. I'm sure some of those clues have been round the block more times than I have!

Malone, I haven't been doing the Spectator as long as you have, so it didn't have that affect on me :)

agree with you cockie wrt 4th thematic -- just remove the first word and it works more consistently with the preamble. I struggled for a long time until I convinced myself that this is what the doctor ordered.

It's one of the thematic entries and it's clued without definition - the last unknown is (x,y)z + the next word in the clue + the country the team represents + the 'head' of the final word.
