Cockie (from the extra thread) 32 is not thematic. It is a french word but is in Chambers.

I can't make any sense of 32, and if it's one of the four thematic clues (and I've found the other three) it's not one with which I'm familiar.

Thanks, jack aubrey - that's what I guessed, but now I don't have a fourth thematic clued answer. In order not to give too much away the product of the three I have is 8820.

I have one of the clued thematic entered across and the other 3 down. Their product is 176,400.

Thanks, alwayspuzzled, the fourth one is the obvious one ... but it fails to satisfy the criteria in the Preamble, because it - unlike the other three - has a valid definition. I accept that the definition given is not defining a thematic object, but the clue would be far better if its first word were omitted - after all by the time a solver gets well inside what's going on (s)he knows what to look for.
