Well, after the trials and tribulations of yesterday's Prize, this Everyman is just what the doctor ordered:-)

Most of the usual suspects are present although, again, there is no Spoonerism which I know many people enjoy.

Didn't know 16a was also a game but Google says it is so that's good enough for me and not entirely sure how the last 3 letters of 14a are parsed but, other than that, everything accounted for.

Didn't really pick a COD but I do like the short and to the point 2d so I'll go with that.

How did you get on? Let us know in the comments.

Thanks to Everyman for a fun way to kick off Sunday.

Stay safe:-)

Hi Brendan,
Thanks to Everyman, I really enjoyed this one. Slightly more difficult than the norm, but not onerous and somewhat of a relief as you mentioned.

FOI 1d. Co-LOI 24 and 18, both of which I had to look up. Not clear on parsing of 5, though solution is clear.

Lots of good clues! Co-COD 8, 13 and 23. Other contenders 10, 15, 20 and 1a.

I clearly recall the 16 game from my youth. ;-)

Certainly seems popular Geeker,

According to Wiki, in excess of 40 million games have been sold in over 100 countries!

Aha, I see 5 now! Completely different parsing than I'd initially pursued and very clever.
Throw that one in the COD candidate list.

The west half went in rather quicker than the east for me. Definitely harder than some recent ones. I agree re 5 - star sign with a bit missing is the island. No rhyming pair this week, just a link between the two long down clues? Have a good Sunday.

daz, 24 is a double definition, film title and duck. I got it based on the film and had to look up the other part.

Hi again Daz,

24a - the answer is both the title of a Bond film/"007adventure" and also a type of "duck".

12d - single letter "Charlie" + 7 letter "excited" (similar to your 6 letter word but with the A in front.

Awake at all hours at the moment thanks to a second mild dose of covid. After struggling with Boatman's prize puzzle yesterday which I blamed on a touch of brain fog (but would in truth have stumped me most weeks) I absolutely loved this Everyman. Some of the surfaces are superb. 20a is a delight, also 21d and 4d is, well, 4d.
