Rocky7, the primarily is 7d.

I found this a bit tougher than previous Everymen. Although I was able to finish it, I have not so far understood how the answer to 5D (Initially, playing for time, intones instructions) works.

Clearly the last word is the definition. And the first three letters of the answer could refer to "playing". But if that's right, I don't see how the rest of the clue works.

Ha! As soon as I posted it, I saw how this clue works (Playing for Time in a word for "intones").

After solving, I had to google in order to find out who Suggs is and how that was used in the clue.

(I confess that I'm a bit disappointed when a clue uses two meanings of a word that share the same etymology, like 15A and 10A.)
