granama - if you put the relevant word into Chambers you should find some of the more unusual ones

gitto - Google the work and the imagined world and the quote should come up easily enough

Using the name on one side and the object on the other I'd have thought the quote would pop up immediately.
Because the setter has found a more fitting way of marking the area an outline is unnecessary ('corners' is mentioned in the preamble, doesn't that help?).
The way it works becomes apparent when trying to resolve a grid ambiguity (and either of the two elements mentioned must be added- one way or another).

Re shading and my posts 34 and 36, all I can say is that the profundity of my own stupidity sometimes surprises even me…

Thanks Candledave. The one that really has me scratching my head is related to your name (5) but I'll triple check my entries again to make sure I haven't botched any of the jumbles.

Granama - have you checked Chambers for that one?

Jack (@53), I am sure that the profundity of my stupidity is much greater than yours. I had the relevant quote all the time, but I didn't know what to do with it - then the PDM came with an earth shattering clang. A marvellous construction, but for me, some borderline fairness with some of the clues, and some brilliant clues - I particularly liked 24d. Spotting the 8 misprints proved to be beyond me until I knew what they spelt.

Several times Candledave 😄

I imagine when the penny drops you'll hear the 'Doh!' half way around the UK! I'm clearly missing something (including with the puzzle title - as mentioned there's another part of the work that fits perfectly but not the one that seems to fit the rest of the puzzle.

I'll have root out the Raven puzzle from Magpie and see what I made of that (pretty sure I completed it).

Does the synonym for the force form the corners of a shape containing 64 cells, including the ambiguous ones recently referred to by drxx?

Fair enough granama - I’ll listen out for the clang ;)

If it makes you feel better, the one connected to my name is correct

Thanks Candledave. 👍

I'm going to have a bit more time to spare on this...I just looked at the Inquisitor (which I won't be doing!).
