If the answer to 29a is 3,2,5, I give up! As for maintain for the def., I think that is unfair(ish). Absolute nightmare for me.

The 'pressure' bit is wordplay, brendan.
Yes, gitto - some of the defs are certainly stretching an already difficult solve.

unless "heightened pressure" refers to the raising of a letter, in which case I have to do some erasing - although it would explain why 11a is proving so difficult:-)
