Despite all the comments aout 11 across and 23 across, I'm still stumped, and I also can't get 1 down. Does it begin with i?

4 letter words I find are often the trickiest. 23d is a currency.

Phew what a struggle! Thanks for all the hints! Am I right in thinking that 22 across answer is a word usually meaning more 'demanding' than ,needy'? Cheers!

Hi Izzy,

Yes, that's the one - I was unaware of that abbr. used until Jono pointed it out but it is in Chambers, so letters 1 and 3 are an abbr. for "drive" and they go around 1 letter "Everyman" then finally "a" from the clue.

I started the thread today, rare event, even rarer is to return to it at the end of the day. But why not. I think you are right, more demanding than needy. Was also, like 13d, a movie if my answer is correct.
